Hello All -

I've been a long-time reader of this forum, and it's about time I participate more actively. Here's my story:

I took finasteride on an off from age 26 - 29. I am now 33 and haven't touched finasteride in 4 years.

I have a bad case of PFS with all the classic side effects - brain fog, ED, loss of libido, testicular pain, memory loss, anhedonia, etc.

I've experimented with many treatments with some improvement, but there is still significant variability in how in feel. Some days I'm 80% of my normal self and feeling pretty good. Other days, I'm in significant discomfort and pain with no libido and lots of brain fog and hating life.

Recently, I've occasionally been getting a sharp pain in my testicles and penis that will last several hours before disappearing. It's unclear why I get that pain all of a sudden, or why it goes away, but it is very painful.

I've tried the pharmaceutical route. I live in San Diego and have seen several doctors who treat PFS. I started by taking clomid and anastrazole, but have since stopped due to ineffectiveness. I now take testosterone, HcG, Addyi, and Adderrall. Addyi is the female Viagra pill. It raises dopamine and norepinephrine and decreases seratonin, and I believe I get a mild benefit from it.

I've also experimented with fasting and changes in diet. I eat mostly fruits and vegetables, and I only eat one time a day. So, I effectively fast 24 hours straight and break my fast each night with dinner. I've also done several 2-day fasts. I would like to do longer, but I'm already pretty thin, and I feel like longer fasts would shock my co-workers and friends because of how skinny I'd get.

I ordered the TEI hair test several months ago, and I'm taking the supplements. I was metabolic type Fast 3, and I plan to order a second test soon. It's unclear to me whether I've gotten any benefit from TEI.

I appreciate this community, but I often get lost in all the different and conflicting advice. I'm confused on what treatments I should pursue, or stop pursuing. Any advice or insights are appreciated, and I'll plan to keep updating this log with my progress.

Cheers,
Ben

Dude you are taking testosterone and all types of drugs. Get off TEI since it is useless when you take these things. All those things influence your hair test results. So your hairtest is probably wrong. And if you did not take them before your first hairtest, your next one will be wrong.

Get off testosterone and all drugs, do the cdsnuts herb cycling for a while as a PCT. Then come back.

Total Male Optimization

Also live a healthy lifestyle. No drugs, no alcohol, go to bed early, eat healthy, LIFT weights (light if you are tired).

TEI will take a while. First 2-3 cycles were fatigue, depression, suicidal thoughts, etcetera. Now fifth cycles better.

First thing I must say here.

That diet takes balls no doubt and you’re a warrior for practicing it. But now you are on TEI supplements. You cannot fast all day while taking these.

Also... with TEI, you really should be following their diet recommendation. Or at the very least be eating a balanced diet with a diversity of good fats, proteins.

Proteins and fats, although they are not a part of the supplement prescription, are a huge part of nutritional balancing.

Also, ya i agree with RWAC above. Gotta stop all the drugs. You are doing too many good things to mess with these synthetics which can throw whatever progress you make and send you backwards.

So I’d get off the drugs, continue with TEI, balanced diet with it, exercise. If digestion is major problem, bring in the gut drink. If you’re having issues with tei supps like fatigue in the day, maybe push minerals until night (like zinc, manganese, copper).

Dr. Eck stated It can take up to two years for the program to work on sexual symptoms ( that's depending on your current health going into the program) so don't think you will be cured from one round of supplements.

did similar thing fasting and still do but not tei with drugs. never took the test etc. did lots of other stuff but before and after fin/ not to recov. didnt take fuck all nearly 18mo after crash began and until i was nearish cured. that diets fucking amazing for getting cut tho. i often still fast tons esp if im gonna see a girl but yes i should pack on some more meat. only took dexedrine and only 6mo after fasting and all that extended. was scared but i need that shyt. but even JQD was against adderall. but im sure hes on all kinds of shyt now. i can take or leave anything. ill take more tei tho. but for work and life, ill still take dexedrine when not on tei. if i wasnt concerned about more imbalances or mania rage etc, id probably be on test and gh rite now. but i wont because solving most of pfs was natural or natural as a fundamental/foundation behind it.

Update:

At the recommendation of this forum, I have now been off testosterone injections and Hcg for three weeks. I also purchased the following herbs - pine pollen, horny goat weed, tongkat ali, black maca powder, schisandra berry, and I also purchased a tribulus supplement. I take one herb a day and I rotate. I also do continue to take a low dose of adderall only at work, and I continue to take Addyi daily. I still take my TEI supplements too.

Overall, I am sure my testosterone levels have come down. I have bad brain fog and low libido. For now, I plan to continue this experiment substituting testosterone boosting herbs for testosterone injections. We'll see where it leads.

Your adrenals are never going to recover if you’re taking adderall. I can’t stress enough, drop it.

Just drop TEI for now and keep taking the herbs. Your TEI test is wrong bc you were taking testosteron e

Another update:

I've now stopped taking both the adderrall and Addyi based on the recommendations of this forum. I'm still taking the testosterone boosting herbs which are rotated daily (based on cdnuts protocol) and I'll do several 24 hours fasts per week. I feel weak, have low energy, and plenty of brain fog. I have a very analytical job, so I'm hoping I can get by at work in this state. I haven't had my testosterone levels tested since I stopped the testosterone injections, but I'm sure they're dropped significantly. I feel weaker and have a less muscular frame than when I was on testosterone. I also feel tired and can't think clearly.

If you want to do TEI you need to drop everything for a month at least.

For now I would keep using the herbs to get you to a point where you are doing OK. Then you can always choose which route (cdsnuts OR TEI)

I think it's going to be tough. But to stick out TEI alone is best.... Unless you can water fast a bit then do tei, but test one and maybe even 2 may not be correct and that may take even longer. I just think cognition returning happened to me via water fasting. I did tei near the end. The thing is, both can and have worked for people. TeI shouldn't be so harsh after 1-3months. If you're already working, eventually you'll be better on tei... I couldn't do anything until i fasted, but my crash was extremely severe.

If you can work on herbs , CD's, etc... you can still do the same work on TEI... anything would be kind of hard... but surely better than feeling bad daily... even if initially it's bad in different ways or potentially worse. usually at least. prolly fine whatever.

Hello all - another quick update on my protocol:
  • I've continued to stay off all the pharmaceuticals I was on previously, meaning no Adderall, testosterone, hcg, etc.
  • I'm still cycling the testosterone boosting herbs recommended by cdsnuts, one per day
  • No fap
  • Exercise three times per week, cardio and weights
  • Daily vitamin d and vitamin b supplements
  • Overall healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables
  • I do approx three 24 hour fasts each week and one 48 hour fast each month
There's been no significant improvement in my condition and I still have plenty of pfs side effects. Moving forward, I plan to wean off the herbs and to try TEI. I'd also like to try a longer fast, but that's difficult to fit in with work and given that I'm also pretty skinny to start with. I also plan to post my progress here more regularly.

I just completed a 3 day water only fast, which is my longest fast to date. I know I'm not fully recovered, but I do feel better. It just feels like my digestive system's been cleared out and that I'm more clear headed than normal. No noticeable benefit for the sexual side effects.

3 days wasn't too bad to get through, I think mainly because I've already done several 2 day fasts. I plan to slowly make my way up to longer term fasting and I intend to wait a few weeks and then to a 4 day fast.

Unless you're on a keto diet I would rather call this time restricted eating.
If you eat carbs you need probably 3 days to even start fasting. Then you'd need another 3 days to get benefits from it.
All you're doing here is giving your gut a small break to clean out a little.
Agree tho that it's a good idea to work yourself up if people struggle with it.

Hello all -

Every now and then I get very sharp testicular pain and intense brain fog. This seems to happen once every 2 - 3 months and can last for several days. I'm unclear on exactly what is causing it, but it makes it very difficult to manage work and my other responsibilities. I'll often need to leave work and lie down at home, because it can be so painful.

Any thoughts on what is triggering this or how to prevent/ treat it? For me, most days I can get through my job okay on PFS, except this intense pain every now and then really knocks me out, and I'm not sure what's causing it.

Another update:

I just completed a 5 day water only fast. There were stretches during the fast when I got hungry or felt weak, but overall I found it beneficial. There were a couple days during the fast when I made it to the gym, and the combination of exercise and fasting made me feel great - my brain fog completely disappeared. My plan is to wait a month or two and then do a 7 day fast.

Of everything I've tried so far to recover from PFS, what's been most helpful is intermittent fasting, exercise, eating healthy, and getting a full night's sleep. My plan is to exercise daily, do an extended 7 day fast once every two months, continue to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts, beans, lean meats and no processed foods, no refined carbs, and limited sugar.
